The State of New York State

Albany, New York

New York's tradition of greatness stretches across time with the State housing the original Capital of the United States of America, back in the founding era and America's largest city today. We are an old land, settled in the early 1600s and yet we are continually renewed. It is our State in which Lady Liberty welcomes new immigrants and raises her torch, lighting the world with its freedom and the right to pursue one's happiness.

New York is home to a cosmopolitan economic center. The world's financial capital is in New York City, and yet is also one of the nation's top five farming states, producing and exporting goods like potatoes, apples, cherries, cabbage, dairy and many others. New York's Gross State Product is over $1 trillion (2006), which means if New York were its own country, it would be the 16th largest economy in the world.

Still, our State, diverse in people, enduring in history, and economically robust, is headed for disaster!

Under the Democratic leadership, New York is in headed for a meltdown. The Democrats have proven themselves unwilling to moderate their spending, and their extreme agenda has left New York with an expected $47 billion budget deficit over the next few years. This is expected to cost every New Yorker upwards of $2,500 in new taxes, [1]If serious steps aren't taken to get the state's budget deficit under control, every New Yorker is going to have to give up $2,500 of their hard earned money in taxes at some point down the line. That's $2,500 less that we will have for the ever-increasing cost of living in our state, to spend on our families, or to save for our retirement -- $2,500 that will go into the government's coffers and continue to fuel the Democrats failed agenda. This is going to mean that - for the first time in our State's history - children are going to have fewer opportunities than their parents.

However, nothing is inevitable unless we make it so. It is up to us to change this course. Let us all join in Drafting Rudy Giuliani for New York Governor in 2010! Let us bring true proven leadership to Albany and turn our Great State around from the precipice of disaster!
