Wow! What an election day!
Tonight it will be one week since Americans from every corner of this great land stepped up and made their voices heard – and, what a sound it was! From New Hampshire to Washington State, Americans came out to vote for freedom and lower taxes and against massive over-reaching government. We voted against the idea that “a little intellectual elite, in a far distant capital, can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves.”
All over the map, Americans rejected the actions of the radical left:
In Virginia, Bob McDonnell won back the Governorship by double digits.
In Pennsylvania, Republicans swept the Supreme Court elections.
In Michigan, New Hampshire, and Washington State, Republicans picked up state legislature seats.
Right here, in Nassau County, New York, Republicans took back control of the county legislature for the first time in a decade, and in Westchester, we recovered the County Executive seat.
And, in our neighbor, New Jersey, Chris Christie won a decisive victory in a very challenging race against long-time-incumbent Jon Corzine!
Despite these victories, as President Reagan warned us, “the more the plans fail, the more the planners plan.” Just last Saturday, in the dead of night, hidden from public scrutiny, the radical Democrat majority passed their healthcare-takeover bill. Now it moves on to the Senate as Democrats try to pass a trillion-dollar bill that will grow the size of our already-bloated government. They do this despite our debt, and deficit, and record high national unemployment.
The case is the same in Albany. Our state is facing massive debt and deficit and the only answer we hear from our current Democrat leaders David Paterson and Andrew Cuomo is to raise taxes and fees on our already-over-taxed residents. But, friends, rest assured more victories will come. We will stop the over spending and the over taxing, the waste and the corruption!
In the face of these challenges we need a real leader who can offer real reform. A man with a record of cutting taxes and balancing budgets in hard economic times. That man is Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Friends, let’s build on our recent victories!
Let’s get out there! Let’s get organized!
And, let’s elect Rudy Giuliani Governor of New York in 2010!
